For All Trail Rides:

  • Dress code: Long pants & closed toed shoes

  • Helmets are provided and required for minors and encouraged but optional for adults
    (must be an equestrian certified helmet if you choose to bring your own)

  • Loose ‘fashion’ or sun hats will quickly blow off in the breeze and can be a hazard to the horses and other riders and are not advised to be worn during the ride.

  • Saddle pouches for phone, keys, camera, etc. are provided to each rider, but please avoid backpacks and purses as we don’t want to distract you or the horses on the ride!

  • We provide a restroom, a cold bottle of water in your saddle pouch for you on your ride, and have sunscreen and hand sanitizer available to you before your ride departs.

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your ride time to ensure the full ride time. If you arrive late, your ride is not guaranteed.

  • We do have a flexible age, ability, and weight limit, but please inquire about specific needs when booking. The more information we have beforehand, the easier it will be to find you the perfect horse!

  • There is a mounted block provided to assist you

Santa Margarita Ranch Horseback Rides in Paso Robles Wine Country

Explore the nearly 14,000 acre the historical Santa Margarita Ranch on horseback! This ride encompasses all the elements of nature, Ancient Peaks vineyards, and ranch life. It includes a lush creek-bed crossing, vast open field spaces with big views, and navigates dense oak and pine studded trails. The chances to see wildlife are plentiful, as the ride circumnavigates a working cattle ranch with multiple watering locations that draw in a variety of creatures, from the cattle grazing the land to deer passing through.   • 1.5 Hour 'SMR Tree Canopy & Vineyard View Ride'

    $150 / per person

    Mild terrain with a bit more time in the saddle! Experience riding the ranch property’s vast unique terrain including the grand oak trees, lush greenery, wide open spaces, and vast vineyard views that this beautiful property has to offer. Added bonus is splashing through the natural creek systems!

  • 1.5 Hour 'SMR Ranch Ridgeline Vista Ride'

    $165 / per person

    Discover new heights with the panoramic ridgeline views of the Santa Margarita Ranch property! This ride travels picturesque hills overlooking the countryside. We recommend this ride for those with more experience, or who are up for a bit more adventure, as it is more technical terrain.

  • 2 Hour 'SMR Ranch Ridgeline and Vineyard Vista Ride'

    $195 / per person

    Why not see it all?! This ride goes through the ranch property with views of Ancient Peaks vineyards and then travels the scenic ridgeline hills. Our longest time in the saddle that we offer and it is an amazing way to see many different scenes, wildlife, and varied terrains plus extra bonding time with your selected horse! As this is a long time in the saddle and covers a variety of more technical terrain, we recommend this ride for more experienced riders.

Santa Rita Ranch Horseback Rides in West Templeton

The Santa Rita Ranch is a one-of-a-kind property owned and permanently protected by The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County. Join us as we explore across this 1700+ acre working coastal cattle ranch! The magnificent property gives you all the wonders of the ranching lifestyle alongside all the beauty that the coast has to offer. Due to its natural resources and remoteness, the property serves as an important wildlife corridor running from Northern California to Mexico, so the amount of wildlife is abundant across this expansive property! The Santa Rita Ranch also has a unique Mediterranean climate with coastal influences, which make for ideal horseback riding weather. Come out and experience it for yourself! This experience also includes a one-year membership to The Land Conservancy, with benefits such as guided hikes on private, conserved properties, invitations to special events throughout the year, and more adventures like this! 3.5 Hour All Encompassing Ranch Ride

$295/ per person

Experience our longest and most demanding yet most rewarding ride! This route showcases a multitude of elevation changes and diverse sceneries on the beautiful and protected Santa Rita Ranch. This property has so much to offer as a coastal cattle ranch. Highlights of this property include heavy vegetation, natural springs, creek crossings, and a 32 acre foot lake, as well as views of the Pacific Ocean and Morro Bay Rock on clearer days.

This is a roughly 3.5 hour experience covering over 10 miles of trails through technical terrain therefore strict rider weight, age, and experience limits apply.

There is a minimum charge to haul out for this ride.

Cass Vineyard Horseback Rides in Paso Robles Wine Country

This ride is designed for group packages only and is not a daily ride option. All group rides must be booked in conjunction with Cass Winery or Geneseo Inn. In addition, there is a minimum charge to haul out for this ride.

Enjoy the Paso Wine region in our favorite style! With a gorgeous vineyard, oaks, and water reservoir views, Cass winery offers a beautiful ride location for any rider. Choose from our two different ride option— our 45 minute vineyard experience winds through the vines catering to all guests, and is the safest option for children, nervous riders, and large parties. For our confident riders, consider the hilltop vista ride, which begins through the vineyards, then climbs the property’s hills behind the vines, taking in the grandness of the entire vineyard property. Cass Winery Tasting room has an excellent selection of food and wine available before or after your ride, open daily 11am-5pm, by reservation only, so book ahead through if you plan to visit the Cass Café!
